Victim also challenges Raghaveshwara seer’s discharge before the Karnataka HC

BENGALURU: The Karnataka high court on Tuesday posted to June 22 the hearing on a separate criminal revision petition filed by the victim challenging the discharge of Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji, head of Ramachandrapura mutt in Shivamogga district in relation to the rape case registered by her daughter.
Keeping the question open as to whether a prosecutrix can maintain a criminal revision petition, vacation Judge Justice Anand Byrareddy directed the matter to be listed with the petition filed by the state government.
This was after counsel for the seer raised an objection with regards to maintainability of the petition.
The Judge also ordered notice to the state government and the seer as well.
The victim ,a singer , has challenged the March 31 ,2016 order of a city sessions court in discharging the seer .She has claimed that the court below has erred in discharging the seer in relation to a serious crime requiring trial.
Originally, the daughter of the petitioner had filed the complaint alleging that the seer had committed rape of her mother .
