BENGALURU: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has issued a notice to seer of the Ramachandrapura mutt Raghaveshwara Bharathi to undergo medical tests, in connection with a rape charge against him, at the Victoria Hospital on Wednesday morning.
Officials said this is the concluding part of the investigations against him in a case of rape filed against him by a Ramakatha singer.
In the notice, CID has asked the seer to come for the test on an empty stomach so that the semen and blood samples could be taken. The seer will also have to undergo a potency test. The test will also include screening of moles of Raghavendra’s body, as the victim had in her statement said that she had noticed these moles. An investigating officer said that this would be crucial evidence to prove the rape allegations. The seer will have to appear voluntarily for the tests before a four-member panel of Nephro urology doctors at Victoria Hospital.
The CID had filed the chargesheet against the seer last week and the outcome of the medical test will be submitted aditionally after the report is obtained, an officer said. Raghaveshwara Bharathi had challenged the notice issued by CID on September 21. The CID asked him to appear for three medical tests on September 30. Three medical tests are pending in connection with the case. In his petition, Bharathi, who has already undergone other medical tests, contended that he has declared that he is a potent man and that the other tests are not necessary. CIDcannot insist that he appear for further tests without the permission of the court, he claimed. The case is yet to be come up for hearing.
