BENGALURU: The 52nd City Civil Court granted interim anticipatory bail to pontiff of Sri Ramachandrapura Mutt Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi on Friday.
After hearing arguments of both the sides on the second rape complaint filed against the seer at the Girinagar police station, Judge G D Mahavarker granted the interim anticipatory bail for 30 days to the seer.
During arguments, Additional Advocate General A S Ponnanna strongly opposed the granting of bail.
Referring to the objections filed by CID to the bail plea, Ponnanna said Raghaveshwara Swami had not followed the conditions imposed when bail was granted in the first rape case registered a year ago by a Ramakatha Singer. He said the seer also threatened the witnesses.
In counter argument, the petitioner’s counsel told the court that the complaint filed against the seer was false.
