CID to Probe Rape Case Against Seer

BENGALURU: The city police have decided to hand over investigation into the second rape case filed against Raghaveshwara Bharati Swami of Sri Ramachandrapura Mutt to the CID.
On Saturday, a Yakshagana artiste hailing from Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district lodged a complaint at Girinagar police station alleging that the seer had repeatedly raped her in 2006 when she was a minor.
A senior police officer said the first case filed by a singer on August 28, 2014, was investigated by the CID, and it is in the final stage. “After a meeting with the senior police officers, we will transfer this (second) case also to the CID,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences medical administrative officer Dr Madhushankar said the woman was subjected to the medical tests and she was asked to come for another round of tests on Monday.
